Re: What Do You Collect?

Nice looking Spyderco's. I also collect knives. Mostly Benchmade folders and some Busse fixed blades. I also have some pretty nice Japanese chef knives. They are almost all users.

I haven't bought any Busse's for a few years now. I have a basic #7 that i have absolutely put through the wringer! It doesn't quit ever. I have always wanted a Steel Heart. Maybe someday.

Re: What Do You Collect?

I collect old coins (only PGCS certified), preferably old Morgan silver dollars.

I don't have the money available, but love older quality watches.

Re: What Do You Collect?

I have an extensive collection of wristwatches. I have about 30 or so in working order and a handful of ones that need restoration. I have a mixture of vintage and new. I have all makes and models with my largest area of collection comprising of WW2 military issued watches all restored to original condition with NOS parts.

Here is my latest acquisition; a new Sinn Regulatuer. I saved up for this puppy. Sinn makes a phenomenal watch.

Here's a 1930's chronograph

Here's a 1940's Rolex dress watch

Here's a WW2 Frogmen watch issued to UDT's (later known as the modern day SEALS). Note the screw down crown cover and original glass crystal with lead solder for waterproofing. Rare and desirable among collectors.

Mint example of fully restored Elgin A-11 down to a NOS cloth strap. Worn by the US Air Force in WW2.

Rare example of a 1929 Waltham 14k white gold dress watch with hinged lugs. Goes great with a suit.

My great grandfather's fully restored 14k gold pocket watch. He bought it in the 1910's when he arrived at Ellis Island. It is sitting on my vintage pen collection.

One of my prized pieces; my grandfather's mid 1960's Rolex Submariner in it's original condition. I have had the movement restored and a new crystal but left all the nicks and scratches. I did not want it buffed. I wear this daily.

Here is a great picture of my grandfather working in the jewelry store in the 1950's.

Here are a couple more shots of him. He was a great man We used to love to fish together. See the rod at the bottom right of the picture? I have it and still fish with it.

Here he is with is car. He used to take it to the park where he would wash and wax it. An original Autopian!

I have a zillion more images of my watches. As you can see, I love to collect

I just got back 8 gold coins from PCGS all graded as uncirculated! I hit the jackpot! One came back AU. They were my grandfather's and he took them from a store he worked in back when gold was used as money. They were sitting in the safety deposit box.

@Spilchy:

Excellent collection of watches and congrats on the certification of your coins. Nice!. I think watches represent the epitome of engineering and craftsmanship. The level of detailing (pardon the pun) of the old Rolexes are unmatched. I like coins especially because they are tangible reminders of the past, only so many were made while others were destroyed/melted for the silver. They stand as an artifact of a certain era.

Re: What Do You Collect?

Spilchy, nice watches! I never thought about collecting them but I do like to wear nice watches.

I collect shot glasses. I have a shot glass from everywhere I have been and some antique glasses also. Last time I counted I had 432 but I only keep the antique's and rare ones out on display in a nice wall hung case.

Re: What Do You Collect?

Knives, knives, knives... favorite - Case Baby Butterbeans

Not to hijack the thread, but if any of you knife guys wants to trade one of the following very unique pieces for a Makita rotary and misc. detailing stuff, please PM me:

- old, old, old... (100 years?) Marbles Safety Axe, age stained metal, safety guard works perfectly, pre-plastic "bakelite" black handle grips with outdoor scenes molded, grips are perfect... no cracks or chips;

- ten year old... Spyderco Gunting folding combat knife designed by Bram Frank, mfg. in Golden, CO... has been everyday carried, no box, but in perfect condition. This is an awesome fighting knife for LE or Military. (Please be over 21. This thing is dangerous.)
