Re: Old guy vandalizes a Hummer, gets caught on the surveillance camera
Yea that honestly to me looks more like maybe the guy was pissed he was in a handicap spot.. Although no way to prove it didn't belong there with proper permission. But that was stupid. They shouldn't have much issue catching this guy with a good as video that is.

Good point, I didn't think of that. Still, when we're out in the '67 firebird it's nothing but thumbs ups and god knows that thing is worse than 10 hummers.

Re: Old guy vandalizes a Hummer, gets caught on the surveillance camera
With the excellent video images and the comprehensive local media coverage, I am just floored that no one has come forward with an identification. That is assuming he is a local, I feel confident that he will be caught. I hope the media gives plenty of coverage of the ensuing trial.

Actually, the parking spot was owned by the owner of the Hummer. He was parked legally and this was confirmed with the police department. The design on the ground was likely performed by the owner (apparently it's popular to do that).

I do find it interesting that a lot of "green" types focus on Hummers, Escalades, etc... but not on older cars (particularly older performance cars). I can pretty much guarantee an F40 or '70 Chevellle or Cuda AAR or Testarossa are all burning more gas than a Hummer.
|
Not only that, but muscle cars pollute way more than an H2. Like 100x more even when properly tuned. My Chevelle with 4.11s, 4000 rpm stall, big Comp Cam and Holley 700 double pumper got 6-7 mpg city and 9 mpg freeway. Real fun with a 15.6 gallon tank.

Read the article. Seniors get to decorate their own parking spots. He was parked in his own parking spot he paid for and decorated.
I'd put huge amounts of money on that if this guy is caught, he was specifically targeting Hummers to "teach them a lesson" or some crap like that.

Re: Old guy vandalizes a Hummer, gets caught on the surveillance camera
the hummer wasnt parked in a handicap spot...
it would be pretty obvious it wasnt. the car was in the middle of a lot, away from where any other handicap spot would realistically be.

What I don't get is how you can't tell the difference between a Honda and a BMW, and if you think the guy that did the crime was a "Green Nazi", is it that hard to guess what kind of car he was driving?

|
First of all you can't tell for sure that a student parked it. Maybe it was a visitor? A teacher?
Even if an 18 year old DROVE it that day, maybe it belongs to his parents and he needed to borrow their vehicle for the day? Or maybe he does belong to a serious Hummer enthusiast club that meets to go off-roading once a month.
As for the guess about being a green nazi, it was just a guess considering there is no other apparent reason for doing that. Hummers tend to be the biggest target for those types of attacks. Of course, it could be something else totally not environment related.
As for your comment about a Honda and a BMW, is that directed as me? If so, what is that about?

There's only two kinds of people I can't stand: those who are intolerant of other people's culture...and the Dutch!

Re: Old guy vandalizes a Hummer, gets caught on the surveillance camera
I don't think it has anything to do with "green".
Maybe he was in a war and Hummers bring back some shellshock.
But if that was the case he would throw a grenade under it and scream "hit the ground".
