So i need my headlight covers polished. The Novus system i have isnt doing the job as well as i would like. So i went online to see how much the Diamondite system costs and it was something like 50 bucks. Well i dont want to spend that much just for polishing my headlights this one time.

So i call my local car wash who also does detailing and i ask them if i could just bring my headlight housings in, which have already been separated from the actual headlight and have them buff em clear. He tells me that they want to charge me 40 dollars a headlight!!!! People are getting RIPPED off there.

I guess im buying the diamondite system. And when i get back to college in September i think im gonna start up a mobile detailing business.

How can you say people are being ripped off if you have no idea of the work quality? Had you paid the price and they came out lousy that's one thing.......

15 minutes labour = $7
Products = $5
Overhead = $>14
Profit = $<14 (35% margin)

Looks about right for a commercial operation.

Doesn't seem too far off base to me. Gotta figure the kit you were looking at was $50 and you were gonna have to do it yourself... if you paid them $80 you're $30 more in the hole, but you didn't have to spend any time on it.
