I was/am still am a crazy drug-free (former professional) bodybuilder, but detailing cars professionally part-time is more rewarding, and more profitable !!!

I was just a bum without any hobbies. I collected battle ready swords, but that was about it. I wasn't obsessive about the collection or use of the blades. I just liked them. Sparing was fun, but not nearly as much fun (or profitable) as detailing.

Gee...hard to remember back that far .. before I was detailing vehicles I was detailing my bicycles. But I was *big* into plastic modeling (WWII armor) and that was mighty detail-oriented. That and photography were probably the "active-hobbies" (as opposed to reading/etc.) that seemed to eat up the most time before I started driving. | |

I used to bracket race so I was pretty fastidious about keeping my car in tune...remember the olden days when you actually had to do that? No computers, no electronic ignition, no fuel injection (at least on most cars). Setting the timing, dwell, changing plugs every 12,000 miles or so, setting valve lash, re-jetting the Holley after a run down the strip, playing with the pump cams and squirters to make sure it didn't bog, etc. Good times.

Homebrewing; still do this off & on. High end audio. Gave this up when the kids came along. Latest one is lawn care, check out The GardenWeb Forums - GardenWeb or read Lawn Geek.

I am one of those people that take on 20 hobbies and projects at once and by the time they are finished I am bored with them. Cars and detailing never got old to me.

I took lessons for a number of years, and I still sit down and pick on it every day. I love to play guitar. I dont have a band or anything, but I have a Pro Tools LE rig and have been trying to learn how to program drums. It's very time consuming and can be frustrating at times, but I truly love doing it. I could lock myself in a room and do it all day.
I also work out about 5 days a week, but I'm far from a bodybuilder. I just figure, I only get one body, might as well do my best to keep it in shape. I enjoy the time I spend lifting. I work out at home in my basement so I dont have to deal with anyone else on the machines at the gym. It's amazing how anything stressful that is on you mind goes away for a while when you're exerting yourself.
