Get your own survey done if it's not too expensive if you question his results. Could he be thinking of liability issues for you cutting the lawn? Most people would not care or welcome it as it was before. |
Good point to add.
Anyone remember the episode of the Jetsons where Spacely and Cogswell argue over whether a building is 6" across the property line?
Maybe you'll get lucky Pat and you'll have the upper hand in the situation.

I really need to go out and measure and compare to the measurements that the surveyor did. I doubt they are incorrect. He apparently pulled the deeds from the courthouse and used GPS software to map it. I can't believe the guy spent all this money to have it done.
I guess I am just miffed that the guy is such an idiot to not let me cut the grass in the rectangle and block off my property. Its only like a few feet and only makes both properties look good.
With the way this guy is I can see him ramping this up and getting lawyers and taking it to court. Its just causing unwanted stress and tension in my home.
I mean who videotapes someone cutting their lawn for 45 mins
Its not a duplex that I live in. Its a townhome and I have a end unit. We are grouped in six units per set. This clown is in the next grouping on my left.

Its a fairly common technique to low-level harass someone. If you accept this theory, you are now one up on him. Given that he has delineated the property line, plant scrubs along the line and enjoy your home.

They should be located at all of the property corners and will be down anywhere from 1"-6". Dig around the corners a bit and you will find them. They are just metal rods.

Do it when he is at work one day or something. Keep the grass together and put it back when you are done. I do this all of the time at my day job.

Typically a property boundary marker is a 4x4 or 6x6 concrete rectangle with a hole drilled into it to make the exact property line. So get your own surveyor and then run a nice planting bed just a couple inches off the property (on your side) and then he can always see where the line is. If I were you, the next time he got into my face I would explain to him how nice it was when the last person lived there and how everyone works together and helps each other out. I always say "kill them with kindness". Tell all your neighbors to do the same...maybe that will drive him out and you can stay were you are and live happily ever after.

One day in the spring after we moved in I was fertilizing the yard, and the next door neighbor told me how he offered to throw fertilizer on our lawn for nothing when the previous owners were there and they refused.

I constantly cut and prune across the property line. I also pick up stray bits of garbage and I shovel snow on the sidewalk for both. They think my wife and I are the nicest neighbors they have ever had, which kind of makes me wonder who lived here before
I'm afraid that eventually in the time we live here the old lady might not be around and some punk like the guy you describe is going to move in! I mean I can understand if you were parking your car on his property, installing a bench or a shed on it, or chopping up a tree or two, but cutting grass, pruning?!?

F this guy, Im a pr!ck and would get back at him for it but you arent like me. One question though, why are you doing your yard when you live in a townhome? We live in one and thats what we pay the association fees for, they do all the yard work and landscaping.
