How much would you charge a friend for a full detail?
I know it depends on how close they are, but if you just met them a couple of times, and they're asking for a favor, would you do it for free or charge them, say the job calls for a $300 detail.

No such thing as a freebie, either at reduced cost or the cost of the porducts used and a supper to go with it.

I prefer to stay away from these type of situations. Hard to read whether this person is actually wanting to be a friend of just bum a deal.
Good friends are hard to come by and will be hooked up for life.

Re: How much would you charge a friend for a full detail?
Thanks for the reply guys. The guy said he didn't have money for a $100 dollar detail (how much I said to him), and he can get his other friend to do it for $50, and at the same time he's saving for a Supercharger for his car... I guess his supercharger is worth than my time.

Re: How much would you charge a friend for a full detail?
i've done details for free for close/good friends, and what you charge is up to you to determine. for myself, these people have done very nice things for me, without ever asking for anything in return and this is the least i can do. if i was offered to be given money, i probably wouldn't ask for more than $50...

Re: How much would you charge a friend for a full detail?
I agree with Big Al to a certain extent. I have done free details for my closest friends, but I thought of it as a return of favors passed. But if this is a friend that you just met, and he's asking you for a favor, you told him $100, and now he's saying that he can get someone else to do it for $50, I'd tell him to go for it. Tell him that the products you use cost more than $50 and the time and work involved, just doesn't allow it. What you don't want to do is give him a $50 job (wash/wax) and have him say bad things to others. Just don't do it.

Re: How much would you charge a friend for a full detail?
I've only done 2 free details for the same person. But he is the closest person to me outside my own relatives. He has already done so much for me, so that is just a portion that i can give back. But hey, if he cant afford at least 100 bucks for your hard work, then i say just skip it.
Send him to sacramento and i'll hook him up with a wash n' wax car wash. I think i still got some layin around.

I would suggest to pay for all the products you will use minus car wash and towels and get to keep them.
