Fly Fishers

Just got back from our trip to Cow Creek Ranch just North of Pecos, NM. We didn't catch quite as many fish this year, but we caught some really nice ones.

The Big Catch - 24 inches and ~5 lbs.

That last fish looks like it has a coat or two of Z2Pro and Z8. Good to see you around man!

Re: Fly Fishers

Well done!

I go fishing almost 3 times a week......just across the street and into the Logan River. I killed them the other night, some 17" browns with pleanty of fight.

I might have to post my HUGE fish I caught 3 weeks ago, now that you have posted yours!

Re: Fly Fishers

Nice bows. I get to fish the San Juan at least a week a year (used to be a few weeks until I got married).
Makes me want to go downstairs and tye some dries.
Since we are posting rainbow pics caught by fly fisherman:

Re: Fly Fishers

PT.......that would have been a great fish to catch on a 5wt, I like to underline the fish as a challenge.

I just went fishing again today.........and it was a lot of fun. Its so nice to be able to go fishing in 10 min and catch some 12-17" browns.

Re: Fly Fishers

That fish was caught on a size 24 midge pupae I tied and my winston 5 wt on 5x and 6x tippet. Can't remember if it was the point fly or the dropper. My brother landed it. I have landed trout larger but never on such light line and delicate hook.
I am out on the Juan in Sept for another week with my Dad, uncle and brother. Can't wait to retire in New Mexico!
The trout in Arkansas can be much larger but usually night fishing with big streamers are the key.

Re: Fly Fishers

The guide I went out with does drift boat fly fishing on the San Juan, and that's hopefully the next place I'll be hitting.

I started going more than 10 yrs ago and now fly out every year. Those big trout on tiny flies can be very addictive! Let me know if you are headed out and I will send you some flies.
