Detailing (cleaning) camera lenses

Anybody have any good info on this subject? My lens is a Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar and the camera is a Sony Cybershot, I thought this kit would be appropriate - https://photo-shop.zeiss.com/Products/1216-071

I don't want any cheapo lens cleaning fluids touching my lenses. If anyone has any other suggestions let me know.

Of course, I have my good ol PakShak MF's standing by, one of every kind. I tried the Ultra-Fine except it left some lint when I moistened the lens with my breath that I had to lightly dry buff to get them off. Camera lenses are glass (harder than paint), so technically speaking they do not scratch as easily as clearcoat.

I got a kit like that and it comes with a cloth that seems to be sort of like a chamois and works well. I also tried using a mf to clean mine once and I had trouble getting rid of the streaks.

One suggestion I would make (that I have yet to do myself on my new camera) is to get another lens for your camera. Most seem to use a UV lens or Polarizer. They help filter the light for better pictures, and also act as a cheap barrier so nothing can damage the good lens.

This is what I use every time I demount/mount my lenses and before I mount the lens cap on. It's an easy way to keep dust off. If your lens requires actual cleaning I would go to a local camera store and pickup something there. I bough some high-tech cloth with a solvent in it. It works fairly well with my lenses.

If you have a really expensive lens I wouldn't advise getting a cheap UV/Protection filter as it will most likely compromise your IQ. If you absolutely need one or are afraid of the lens getting messed up I'd invest in a better filter (Hoya, B+W, etc.)
