Dale JR to drive for JR Motorsports

Kinda hard to believe Dale Jr is leaving DEI (will run Henderick cars + engines). When Dale Sr died I moped around for weeks. It was like losing a family member. Over the course of the last several weeks, Jr has came across to me as a spoiled child demanding ownership of DEI. Without knowing the specifics and from the outside looking in; I can't say I blame Teresa for not caving to his demands. I guess it just goes to show that it's hard to operate a business when there is family involved.

I'm not sure Teresa really knows how to run the business-and JR isn't the easiest to get along with. Hendricks is a winning program and that is what JR needs or he'll be the next Kyle Petty.

NASCAR sucks IMO. I REALLY don't understand people that like it.

One Bristol race at night (in person) and you would be hooked.

The good part about NASCAR is that is easy to follow even when you're hammered...

Re: Dale JR to drive for JR Motorsports

I too followed the old man ever since I got back from overseas in 1990. Got to see alot of races in those years till "black sunday" DEI will not be anything without Jr. $10-12 million a year in bud sponsor money is gone. The only place that Jr can win a cup is with Hendrick or RCR, heck any driver for that matter.

From what I see on jayski both Jr and Truex will be driving for JR motorsports. Maybe the recent rumors of DEI and RYR joining up and running fords might come true.

I don't follow NASCAR too much, I am more of a Indy person, but I know that Dale's wife is rarely at any races. How can you run a team away from the race track?

Re: Dale JR to drive for JR Motorsports

I will be at Darlington this weekend and look forward to seeing Jr. drive. I think Teresa made a bad business decision letting Jr. leave. He is DEI. IMO, DEI will be nothing w/o Jr on board!

I don't think Jr. is acting spoiled. He simply wants what his father started. She should have thought this one through!

Re: Dale JR to drive for JR Motorsports

You know my feeling regarding Theresa is that if Junior had tried to work this out privately instead of through the media demanding “if I don't get controlling interest in the company I walking”; there probably would have been a much different outcome. Had I been in Teresa’s shoes I probably would have done the same thing. I read the press release today where he said he wants to go somewhere where he can win a championship. Truth is he probably is already at one of the top 5 teams on the circuit. I believe he has let fame go to his head where he actually thinks "he is all that". If you think back life was pretty good for him 3 years ago and then he got to where he couldn’t even get along with his own crew chief and cousin. So they swapped Tony Eury to Michael Waltrip's team and he had one of his worst years ever the following year. That didn't work so they brought Tony Eury back and he still has done very little. He gets much too agitated and excited behind the wheel and in my view he is just an above average driver; certainly not one of the top 5 in my view. Kenseth, Gordon, Biffle or Johnson will take a not so hot car and bring it home near the top 10 every week. These guys win a lot of races by not beating themselves. Unless Junior changes his ways, I think he’ll only have limited success wherever he goes.

I dont understand why you'd take the time to enter a thread about Nascar and post that.

As for Junior, I wouldnt be suprised to see him end up at Gibbs.
