Boston-area members: Question about fine dining in the area...

The wife and I will be in Boston on our anniversary weekend and I'm trying to line up a nice dinner for us.

I am looking for a fine dining experience with very good food (not narrowed down to any particular type of food really) and a comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere (e.g. live piano player in the restaurant and a good view from one's seat, etc).

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

The Oak Room sounds right up your alley it is more traditional in decore and when I have been there they had live jazz palying in the bar area. Place has beautiful wood work through out and the staff is phenominal.

Mortons is also a good choice

The Hub in the prudential building is also a good choice probly the best view in the city but the food might be "sketchy" imo.

Yes I like to eat :-)

I second the Mortons. I have had their food here in Nashville many times and it always a treat to eat there. If there is a Maggianos in the area I would also recommend them. The one here has a live piano player in the bar area which is a nice touch with your loved one. Enjoy!

Any from that list I should eliminate immediately?

I wonder if Pat's Pushcart is still around... it was this little hole in the wall in the italian part of town and it was the *best* pasta I've had in my life... it was better than resteraunts that cost 3x as much.

I'll have to see if I can find some reviews or information on it. Thanks for the info, timmah!

The service is noted on Aujowe. Thanks for that info! Also, thanks for checking into the dinner cruise. I should have said this in the beginning, but we will not be up there until Memorial Day weekend...

OAK ROOM!!!! Favorite restaurant of all time. You have to go to the bar there first for their martini's. They are incredible, and huge. Real classy place. Awesome steaks. Everytime I am in Boston, I go to Oak Room for dinner.
