What to get dad for b-day?

Well my old man has everything that anyone could need, except some detailing stuff. I figured that would be a good thing to get my old man... He just got a new G35 silver with black leather, he washes it alot but, Im not sure he how often he would use any leather cleaners or sealants (dad tends to not was as much as is needed) what would yall reccomend for him to keep his G all "sexed" up?

Re: What to get dad for b-day?

A dad with a new G35 (beautiful car by the way) would always appreciate a nice package of Meguiars Endurance Tire shine. Add a gallon of the Hi Temp rubber and tire cleaner available from TOL and the topper for the package would be one of those pump up spray bottles.
Dad will have the best tire cleaning package in the world, you'll be the best son in the whole world, and you'll be able to beg a sampler of the tire cleaner because he'll have lots. It dilutes 1:1.
There's always fine single malt whiskey for him to sip when the day is done.

Re: What to get dad for b-day?

I have the perfect suggestion!!!

Optimum No Rinse! Throw in some MF towels.. a good chenile mitt.. and a simple couple gallon bucket and WHALLA.. he'll be set.

If he likes to wash the car a lot this will save him a TON of time.. it leaves a great shine too.

Give him a detail for free? Maybe some tools or something?

Re: What to get dad for b-day?

I put together a car care kit for two of our kids this past Christmas with stuff I thought would be easy for them to use. Most of it I ordered from Danase (he had a Christmas special), but some stuff like buckets and Stoner's IG I picked up locally.

The short version of the kit:
A ShMitt for them to wash their cars with..... easier for them to care for than a sheepskin
Poorboy's SS&S car wash soap.... I didn't think they would embrace the ONR concept
Poorboy's EX-P for their light colored cars.... very easy to use and sun friendly
Poorboy's B 'n B tire dressing and some Eagle One tire swipes
Some MF towels and WW's to buff and dry
Some Meg's foam applicators for the EX-P
Two buckets and a wheel brush..... hopefully they can grasp the two bucket concept

I also typed up a sheet of instructions for them to follow. A simple kit like the above with easy to use products and some instructions (for when you aren't around) might be something he'd appreciate. You can make up your own kit and substitute products you like or think he'll be more likely to use. Otherwise, like someone else mentioned, giving him a coupon for you to do a complete detail would be good idea too.

that would be my thought. My dad's bday is coming up in April, and I've been thinking of giving him a gift of a detail on his '70 Corvette.

Re: What to get dad for b-day?

FWIW my father found the BHB so user-friendly that he started helping me do his cars! It ended up being an every-Saturday ritual that we shared right up until he died, and he enjoyed it a lot more than when I did it all for him. He also appreciated how some drying media work *so* much better than the crappy towels he'd used back in the day, so maybe something along those lines too.
