Cheap flights?

I am looking for some cheaper flights from Detroit to Fort Lauderdale FL. Anyone know of good sites to book round trip flights on? It won't be until November, I am just planning ahead..

Re: Cheap flights?

I just checked, Southwest has flights that go from Detroit to Ft Lauderdale. You can book directly through their website although they wont let you go that far ahead, November, to check fares as of yet.

I have had decent luck with Cheaptickets.com and Expedia.com

Re: Cheap flights?

Travelzoo is an interesting place. Lots of last minute deals and regular deals.

Another good place is Tom Parson's Bestfares.com

This site has 10 top tips for getting the cheapest fare. The website gives more info on each tip. Good stuff, here's the first 5.
Michael Bluejay's how-to airfare guide

#1 Be flexible with your travel dates.
#2 Book at least two weeks ahead, preferably three.
#3 Staying over Saturday no longer necessary.
#4 Fly mid-week if you can.
#5 Using neighboring airports sometimes gets you cheaper airfares.

Re: Cheap flights?

Suprisingly, you can often find the best rates on the Airline of your choice's website.

if your gonna book a flight do it now because the Airlines are raising there rates..I don't beleive by much though 10$ each way on a thousand mile flight smaller flights will go up $3-4$ each way, further the flight the more money..

Re: Cheap flights?

Here are all that I use.

Travel: Airfares, hotels, vacations, cruises, car rentals and more at Travelocity.com

Browser Check

Orbitz: Cheap Travel, Flights, Hotels, Vacations, Car Rentals, Cruises

Airline Tickets, Cheap Flights, Cheap Plane Tickets, Hotels, Car Rentals - CheapoAir

Discount Travel Deals at Hotwire.com

A Cheap Flight - Online discount flight availability & booking

Travelation.com - cheap airline tickets, travel and discount airfare

Airfare.com -- offers cheap flights cars rental hotel reservations cheap packages

Farecast | Airfare Predictions, Find Cheap Flights, Airline Tickets - nice new one that predicts fare increases - decreased for certain airports

Cheap airfare, hotel, car rental, cruise, and vacation deal coverage - SmarterTravel.com

Edit--Man, it's a neat function that the board can fill in info for you but I would have like it better if it didn't change expedia into "Browser Check". What's up with that

Re: Cheap flights?

I like www.mobissimo.com for finding flights. Then go directly to the airline website and buy.

Re: Cheap flights?

I like to use Sidestep.com for finding flights. It's a search engine that finds flights on pretty much all the websites and brings them back in the search results. It pulls information from sites like Orbits, Travelocity, etc. and also the individual airline websites like Southwest.com, etc. This site has saved me money countless times and made booking a flight much easier.

Re: Cheap flights?

Bob, find the best price you can using the on-line searches and then you can usually book the same flights for the same price directly with the airline. The only exception might be Southwest, which I don't think will show up in a search outside of their own web-site (but I might be wrong).
