08 C-Class

Did you see the pictures of the 2008 C-Class on the Car and Driver website? WOW

Really looks good, my Saab goes back in March 08, Ill definitely look at buying that to replace it. I never considered a C-Class before, it was to feminine.

Re: 08 C-Class

Is this MB's answer to BMW's mass-market, discount line, the 3-series? A MB "for the masses"?

maybe

I'm not sure about the tailights, and the front looks like it takes a lot of cues from S-class

Re: 08 C-Class

Brand homogeny.

I think its the point, a mass market Benzito. I will use it like a mass market car by parking it at the train station all day. I just want that great Benz service and loaner when it needs it, and it will.

Re: 08 C-Class

I had a C-rap Class...errr...C-class. I know MB brought it out to draw first time MB buyers and then move them up, but it just didn't work (literally). Biggest POS car I ever owned. On the C-class forum I was on, only a tiny percentage of people bought an MB for their next car. I will never own another MB becasue of having to deal with that car. And it's strange - I loved the car: fun to drive, nice, well equipped, etc., but in the shop constantly. When I sold it after about 30 months, I had 52 pages of repair tickets, most with multiple issues.

Re: 08 C-Class

They need an answer to the 3 series and this is their attempt. Just keep it in warranty and you'll be fine

Re: 08 C-Class

Looks EXACTLY like a BMW 3 from the side. Lame.

Yup, and unfortunately, this is the story with many German cars. Great to drive, build very well, but too many problems after only a year.

Of course, this isn't the case with 100% of these cars, but German and Euro cars in general do have this reputation.

People just want to buy these cars for some "status" they see in their heads, but they don't realize what they're getting their selves into. For the same money, they could get a reliable sedan from another manufacturer with probably more luxury

Oh, and a bit more money left over to help you pay for that premium gas.

Seeing someone drive a 3-series doesn't phase me at all. An Accord makes a better impression on me, personally (as far as the owner).

ugh, there I go again, making generalizations. I apologize to any 3-series owners, I need to stop doing that... I know I hate it when people make generalizations about us Scion owners.... its just that I see so many people buying 3-series thinking they are getting a real BMW (and probably nearly went broke just to get the BMW badge on their car) when I personally consider the vehicle an insult to what a proper BMW should be...

So very true, but good luck convincing the people who drive them. They pay too much money for a car and therefore believe it's the best, and nothing can make them think otherwise. It's very true that Camry / Accord and such have near the levels of luxury now that BMW / MB are known for. Everything you could ever need in a car for 1/2 the price of the status brands.

Re: 08 C-Class

looks like a nice car...but definitely not my style. i didn't see a price point for it...what is the estimated MSRP? i agree with everyone above about the silliness of people that buy a lower model luxury brand thinking they are getting something amazing that gives them "status". of course, that goes for nearly every product on the market...it's all about "status".

now, as the OP said, he would get it for the excellent service that MB has provided him in the past...which is worth a lot in itself.

just buy an acura and you won't have to worry about paying too much or being in the shop. hahaha...j/k.

Re: 08 C-Class

probably mid $30k. I'm not too impressed with the front end. Nice looking car, but not very distinctive.
