Setting up printers...question

Ok, I set up a thermal printer for shipping labels last night. However I am having a bit of a problem. I have to manually go in and switch the printer from the thermal to my regular HP to print invoices. Is there a way I can set it up so that all labels print to the thermal and all invoices print to the HP without manually switching all of the time?

Thanks

Re: Setting up printers...question

I know that you can set a default printer on each computer for all print jobs, but I'm not sure if you can set a default printer for each program/task.

Which do you use the most?

From all I know Windows doesn't provide way of doing that.

This is the only way I know of - program centric. When you print from the program that makes the labels it may or may not write that printer name to the registry to reference for later use. If its all through Internet Explorer, you are hosed. You can buy an A/B switch box if these are connected via printer cables.

If you really have the time, you can look throught the regisrtry for your program that prints the labels to see if there are any ptinting keys. You could aso search the regustry for the printer name to see if there are any default settings for each program.

Again - if this is through IE, you are hosed unless the software developer built this feature of printer switching in.
