First of all, I'd like to say thanks to David for posting all the helpful articles and his hard work
I have one suggestion that I'd like to bounce off some people... its minor, but in the article on defensive driving there is the following line:

The proper setting for side view mirrors is to adjust them slightly beyond the point where you can see the side of the car on the inside edge of the mirror. Positioned in this way, you can see more and remove one of the critical blind spots.

It's actually better to lean your head all the way over until it barely just hits your driver's side window, then do this same adjustment (barely have your rear tail light or right outside it when you adjust the mirror with your head in this way). With the passenger side mirror, lean your head over until it is just over the center console, then adjust that mirror the same way.
Adjust the inside rearview to show just the entire rear glass, and you can say bye to about 95% of your blindspots!

In fact, you don't even have to look over your shoulder anymore once you get used to it. However, it is a good idea to just take a quick peek "just in case." This completely elimnates the need for those "blind spot" mirrors which can sometimes cause more problems by causing you to get confused with perspectives, especially when trying to merge into traffic.
I've been driving like this for several months now and would never give it up. It's amazing how much improvement there is in the how much more easily you know what is going on on your sides. Makes changing lanes a breeze.
If you guys didn't get that, sorry, I guess these articles do a better job than me
