Re: My Buddy Lost an Eye Yesterday

6 months later and Gus is doing well.
He threw a scare into us last month when we thought
we saw cloudiness in his other eye. We had him
checked out and the vet said everything seems to
be alright....we'll monitor the situation and take him in
for another check-up in 3 months.
He's not just a dog, he's an adventure!

Some pics :

before

Post surgery (he's heavily sedated) :

Today :

Could be worse , all things considered.
I'm just happy he's still around.

Re: My Buddy Lost an Eye Yesterday

Glad that he's doing well! About the eye, my wife adopted a bunny back in November with almost the same problem as Gus, and you can barely tell where the incision is! I think Gus will be the same way!

This is Sassy the Bunny, the one with 1 eye, and you can see the side where the eye is missing! Barely notisable!

Glad everything went ok with Gus. He's a nice looking dog. We have a German Shepherd, so needless to say, I like big dogs. hehe

Yeah, it's interesting how animals adapt to stuff like this. Glad Gus and Sassy are doing OK.

Re: My Buddy Lost an Eye Yesterday

Guys, I was revisiting this post out of nostalgia and thought I'd take a moment to again thank everyone who responded with such concern and kind wishes.
However, I'm sad to report that Gus had to be put down on August 22nd after a difficult
struggle with systemic Lymphoma...there was nothing we could do and he never had a chance.
We only had Gus for three and a half years, and with his loss can only take solace
in the belief that we gave an otherwise doomed creature a chance at a better, more comfortable life.
He was like my right arm: with me EVERYWHERE I went. I miss his presence and personality TERRIBLY.
He was my friend....

Wow, sorry to hear about your loss as I have three dogs myself and they are a big part of our family. It's amazing the emotional attachment we get to our animals and how much they mean to us. My condolences to you and your family and in time hopefully you can find another companion as that's how we found some peace when our dog was killed by a raccoon and now we have 3.
