I may make a patch for him anyway for the time before it's completely healed and still soft. He's pretty rough and I'd feel better if he had a little extra protection until it's fully set.
He probably doesn't need the help...it's more for me and my piece of mind.

Glad to hear that it may not be to serious as we had a shepperd that lost an eye and never missed a beat. Good luck and hope everything works out.

BUT , we caught it so early and the tumor was so small that the pathologist didn't detect it during the first biopsy...they had to do a second.
The good news is that Gus is now a cancer survivor!
My wife and I are EXTREMELY happy.....elated!
Thanks to everyone here and their good wishes and positive thoughts.

His name was Baily and he was a black lab mix. Such a great dog all my friends loved this dog! Unfortunately it had ruptured a disk in its spine which is not always serious but in this case it was particularly bad It did serious damage to Baily's bladder that would eventually prove to be fatal.

My mom-in-law and another good friend just had to have their dogs put down. It's tough , even when they're not yours; you're around them so much that you get kind of attached.
carnut---Thanks for all your replies. By the way, I read where your two little travellers took a walking tour of the neighborhood recently. I was VERY relieved that you got them back. Although ,those that returned them seemed to have less than virtuous motives. Sorry you had to go through that.

Honestly, I think it bugged us (feeling sorry for her) than it bugged her. She didn't seem to mind a bit. And like others have said, once the hair grows back it is not all that noticeable. For being a major thing to lose, I was surprised that it had such a small impct on the pup. I hope your results are similar.

GT,
How many different costumes did you have for that Westy?
