Help with home theater cable installation - pics

I have a set of Monster cables (1 pair for audio and 1 cable for video)

I had digital cable installed in my bedroom and would like to connect these cables to the TV and the digital cable box.

I have enclosed a couple pictures of the back of my TV and the back of my digital cable box.

Where do I plug in the cables? Which row?

Here is the back of the TV:

The top row (4 ports) reads left to right: R L/Mono Video S Video -- Input1
The second row says nothing except Input 2
The third row (2 ports) reads left to right: L R Audio out

Here is the back of the digital cable box:

The top row (2 ports) reads left to right above the ports: Aux Audio In (the S Video is blocked)
The bottom row (3 ports) reads left to right below the ports: L R Video Audio Out

Also the cables have little stickers with arrows on them. Do I plug in the ends with the arrows going towards the those ends in to the TV or the digital cable box?

Thanks for your help!

I take it this is not an HD setup?

The way you want to wire it is

Coaxial cable from the wall -->cable box

Now you want to decide whether you want the TV to be input 1 or input 2 on the TV. I'd pick input 2 since your input 1 has the S-video input that you may want for a DVD player.

Plug the video and audio cables into the video and audio out jacks on the cable box (bottom 3 jacks) match the colors. Plug them into the video and audio in inputs for input 2 on the TV (middle 3 jacks) match the colors.

The direction of the cables shouldn't matter.

Hope that helps!

Sweet, thanks! It's plugged in. I don't notice much difference, but we'll see when I watch a movie on the digital HBO stations. The football game seems a bit more crisp.

No, it isn't an HD setup - just a basic 27" JVC TV from 1999 hooked up to the digital cable box. Something simple for the bedroom.

Thanks again!

You should notice a cleaner image with smoother colors. Basically the noise you may get through coax is filtered out.
