I eat, sleep, and breath fantasy football. I play every year in a private Yahoo! league with the same 11 other guys for a total of 12. It is $200 to join with payouts for first, second and third and the same for the playoffs.
Currently I'm in the middle of the pack at 6th place. Basically it boils down to good luck. You can't control how a player will perform any given Sunday and many times, my best performing players are sitting on the bench. For example, I sat WR Mike Furrey of Detroit and he finished with 100+ yards and a TD. Meanwhile I played WR Greg Jennings of Green Bay who has been on a tear and he finishes with 1 catch for 14 yards leaving the game early because he was hurt. Plus you get lucky with a diamond in the rough or a late draft pick or free agent pickup that just lights it up fantasy wise for your team. A couple years ago it was Antonio Gates for me. I read good things and drafted him in his second year late in the process. He only played a few games his rookie season so there was nothing really to judge him on. He was on nobody's radar but he turned up big time for me with insane numbers and the rest is history with him. Last year it was Santana Moss; drafted late and put up huge fantasy numbers.
I'm the opposite of you. I'm a DIE HARD Giants fan and will be rooting them on tonight. Plus I have WR Plaxico Burress going tonight although it won't matter as I crushed my opponent this week.
So each year, I play, tear my hair out, complain, get frustrated, lose money; only to come back and play again the following year!
