Seriously, get out of NJ and take a trip slightly Northeast and you'll find a TON of people who hate Peyton Manning. Also, Peyton is the definition of a "team player"? I think not. He's almost as big a whiner as G-Rod. Remember last year when they got bumped out of the playoffs and in Peyton's post-game press conference he basically through the rest of the team under the bus? I think he made some comment along the lines of "I know I did what I was supposed to do, but no one else did." It's not the first time he's made comments like that either. Peyton Manning a team player . . . I think not.
Back to G-Rod . . . a player who goes ice cold in the post season IMO is not a great player. The playoffs is when it REALLY counts. What does it matter if you continually get in the playoffs if you're not going to do anything once you're in? Also, IMO division championships are fairly meaningless without an accompanying World Series ring. Doesn't matter if you won the division because you still basically finished second.
Anyway, you want the ultimate sports figure in today's world? It's hands down Tom Brady of the New England Patriots. First of all, he's AWFULLY good. He hasn't had anywhere near the offensive talent around him that Manning has had, but he puts up impressive numbers still and bottom line . . . he WINS. Not only is he successful on the field he's also a MAJOR class act off the field. If they lose he blames himself before others and never points fingers at a specific person other than at himself. Also, he did something REALLY rare in today's sports world . . . he took LESS money. Why? Because there's a salary cap in football and he wants the Pats to have money for players that can help them win. The best part is you never see this guy on TV after he beat his wife or was driving drunk. If you want your kids to have a sports role model I STRONGLY suggest you point them towards Tom Brady!
