"Angel Eyes", "Halos", "Demon Eyes" whatever you wanna call them have been around for quite some time now. I'd say they we're the rage about 4-5 years ago when the 7 series BMW came with them. After that they we're quite popular with the imported aftermarket crowd, similiar to the altezza crave
I'm quite sure they don't do anything for light ouput, purely a cosmetic option. I could be wrong though. | |

The angel eyes just aren't how I want my E36 M3 to look, I went with xenons in the original Euro lights instead. Heh heh, to me my car looks a little too close to yuppie-mobile/precious as it is, what with the Byzanz paint and all...but OTOH a friend once said that my taste in cars was that of a constipated German banker  | |
