Current Heat Wave

I know as temperatures rise all over the country, everyone "suffers" from it in some way or another - difficult working/living conditions, increased electric bills, etc.

As I watched the news this afternoon, I was reminded that the brave men and women serving our country in the Armed Forces are enduring temperatures in Iraq from 111-114 degrees, plus being covered in clothing and gear.

Next time the heat here crosses your mind, send a special thought, prayer, thank you, etc. to our folks overseas.

Amen! My brother-in-law spent 9 months in SA. He grew up in Fl and PR so heat was not new to him, but the heat over there is much worse. Imagine that heat with all that gear and body armor!

But it's a dry heat! (Don't you always love hearing that one.)

Well lose full clothing is good when it’s hot. Solders are not dumb they will be just fine in the high heat
A few weeks ago it was 111* here in Northern Ca and I was working in it and people thought I was crazy but I was ok because of the lose clothing I had on. Drink lots of water and if you get to warm run cold water on your hands neck, the trick is don't get hot, when you get warm cool off when you get hot might be to late? It’s all common sense.
Believe me the Solders over there are having fun not all the time but it can be hell too, that is war and war is insanity.

Are you saying war is fun for these men and women at war? And that they will be fine in the heat so there is no need to give thanks/prayers and that we can be just as tough as they are?

If so...wow

I think he's just saying they know how to stay cool. I don't think anyone actually believes war is fun. If they do then feel free to enlist.

Also:

Lose = to misplace something
Loose = not tight

Solder = like soldering a wiring connection
Soldier = someone in the armed forces

My GF is a Virgo and when it comes to grammar & spelling it just bugs her to the point that she can’t think of anything else besides the lousy grammar & missed spelled words, it take her a long time to get over it? Virgo’s are perfectionist and I bet that you guys are Virgos LOL

Believe me, growing up in Phoenix where summer temps regularly bump up against the 120 degree mark, I have a real appreciation for what our servicemen and women are going through over there-especially since I didn't have to hump it with a 65 pound pack and get shot at. God Bless them.
