I think I've seen some negative karma on one person and he may be banned. I can't remember now.

Yeah, now that you mention it, IIRC I'd seen people referring to somebody's negative karma rating, though I didn't see it myself.

I got negative karma for saying a certain product smelled bad. I tried to contest the rating as per the rules set forth by DavidB, and he completely ignored me.

We'll all be on this "distinguished road" for quite some time I believe. The Karma system hasn't really been very popular since it was installed.
