Vehicle to be painted...Paint cost?
Hey guys;
This is a cry for help for anyone here who paints cars or deals with ordering paint for vehicles. I was wondering if I give you a paint code if you could find out how much it would cost me for the paint only, no labor costs needed. Please post here or PM me and I will contact you with the vehicle information. Thanks for the help,
Otherwise, I can find a site to price paint codes if someone can tell me how many gallons of each I will need to do a Pontiac Grand Prix GTP 4 door
Paint
Primer
Clearcoat

Lets say if you choose ppg and use their clear which is real good quality.
On a avg car like that I would say 2 quarts of paint would be enough, considering that you are not going to be repainting the door jams etc. And as far as the clear goes, I would go with the gallon since you are gonna end up wetsanding it anyway.
Overall Depending on what color you go with, with primer, clear, paint, hardner, etc etc should come out to around $400 approx...thats with everything, It might be more depending on the color you want. Example, If you want Red, it might cost more. There are different versions of red too. So it all depends.
HOpe this helps

You are correct...I was thinking of painting my whole car a different color; but as I got to thinking I dont want to have to worry about the doorjams and all that. So I am on the look-out for a Bright red metallic as I have bright red right now on my Grand Prix. So I wouldn't have to worry about the jams.
As to answer a question posted above, it will be a complete re-paint.

If you are going to be painting it red, there is a color on the 06lexus gs and is models, its called matador red. It has a pretty amazing effect under sunlight. THe paint is tri coat so it might be a little bit more difficult to paint. price for 2quarts is around $400 just for the paint.
If you get a chance, go to the lexus dealership and check it out, im sure you will like that color. If you are going for something cheaper, You can always buy red paint and add Pearl to it to make it shine.. I painted my buick red and got the paint code from an old lexus, the color was called "Renaissance red" and the cheaper version of that paint cost me $100 a gallon.
Here is a close up pic of what it looked like.
Hope that helps
