Don't Speed in Lubbock

Saturday morning I got busted for 64 in a 40 on an access road just after exiting the highway.

Well, my lawyer just gave me a ring with some not-so-good news.

They told him I could defer the ticket, but the fine is $263

Picking people coming off a highway off ramp....that's pretty low. That's like running radar at the bottom of a long steep hill.

In fairness, I had been off for a few seconds.

I would pay the ticket and put it behind you...the insurance hike and points aren't worth it in the long run. Especially if you have some points already, our state makes you pay a yearly fine on top of ticket costs dont ask me how I know

That's too bad, cops should be governed by the rules of Unsportsmanlike Conduct. Definetly consider some sort of radar detector, and if you can budget for it a laser jammer is worth every penny.

We had an Escort 7500, but it stopped working. As soon as possible, we'll be picking up a V1.

Radar detectors aren't much good when they hit you with instant-on laser (as in my case).

I'm very glad it's deferred. I was just *hoping* for a smaller fine.

Somehow, I spent 5 years out there and only got 1 ticket ever. I chalk this up almost entirely to luck. I drive a lot slower now than I used to, but I sped all over Lubbock and got one ticket about 2 months before I graduated. My old roomate who still lives out there, got a ticket at one point for going 3 miles over the speed limit. As bad as Lubbock was, the drive between Lubbock and Amarillo was far worse as far as police coverage goes.
