We make that drive on a monthly basis (at least), and the patrolling has really dropped. Most times we don't see a single Hi-Po.

They are doing that on the frontage road off 360 between Green Oaks and Post & Paddock in Grand Prarie. 6 cops too. At that point, you know it is all about generating revenue and not safety. Amazing that people can run red lights with impunity or drive 20 below the limit and reply to text messages but you go 10 over you have to pay.

They make very effective jammers for that. They're not cheap, and they have to be installed, but if you live in a speed trap area the price of one might be alot less than tickets + insurance.

I'm not super worried about it. This is my first ticket in over a year, and it was definitely my stupidity that caused it.

That's good to know. I still get up that direction every once in a while. I remember the rule use to be that no matter what, you ALWAYS went the speed limit through Tulia.

That's still the rule, but the rest has relaxed a bit.

I guess some things don't change. I too used to make that trip about every two weeks or so. When I was at school in Lubbock, my now wife was going to school in Amarillo, so I became awfully familiar with the drive.

It can't be more embarrassing than being pulled over on a motorcycle, by a motorcycle cop.

Much applause for this post. Speed traps are ridiculous and really do nothing to foster safety or better driving. I think that's proven. I see cars smoking to high heaven driving right past cops not getting pulled over. I see cars that are barely roadworthy on a daily basis. Let's not even get into all the uninsured drivers in this state (Texas) that cost those of us that pay our premiums $1 BILLION dollars a year.
