Cool It always cracks me up...

...to see people in my office building when they get a new car and park it way out in the lot where I always park mine. Within a month, it hasn't been washed and now they are parking right in the middle of door ding land.

This one lady bought a beautiful dark blue I-30 a couple of years ago and was so proud of it, and told me how she parked out next to my car. 2+ years later, I would say maybe it's been washed once.

My favorite is when you park in the far corner spot of a parking lot. Almost up against the curb so it's almost impossible to get a door ding and then have some idiot pull up and park next to your...across the line and within 6 inches of your car. There are about 300 other spaces closer to wherever you are going. DON'T PARK NEXT TO ME.

Yeah it's great.

I park way out there too at work and a few others park there consistantly.

Porsche Boxter - always clean

BMW X5 - always dirty but parks out there anyway

New Stang GT - Always clean but rims always dirty

Audi TT convertible - Always clean

But then you always get the newcomers that last about a month or two.......over the past yr or so they included a new civic, new passat, an X3, and a few others. Funny stuff.

I too am stunned at the steps people take to avoid door dings (I do the same) but make no other effort to take care of their car's finish.

Yeah, there's a guy in my area who parks his new black Z diagonally across multiple spaces...it's paint is so marred up that I can't imagine what it'd take to fix it. Door-dings oughta be the least of his worries, and parking like that is gonna get it keyed some day.

Yep, I also don't get people with small cars that can't park straight to save their lives.

How far out do you park? I park way out there too. I think my passengers usually feel like they got a work out by the time we get inside wherever we are going.

What part of GA are you in?

Everyone hates driving with me because I park so far away...My girlfriend makes me give her piggy back rides when it's too far or when she feels lazy/tired

It often amazes me how some people don't even see swirls and scratches. They'll point out dings and dents to me, but when I say "you should really take care of all these swirls" they'll say "huh?".

Anyway, on topic; I've given up parking far away, seems I get as many dings far away as I do in the thick of it.

I've FINALLY got my wife parking defensively. She even commented to me the other day how proud I would be of her for always parking "in the south 40". One small victory.

There is one lone parking spot in my works parking lot that doesn't have trees over it t. It is an end spot and I get to work 1 hour early just to get it. And this really nice guy in a Explorer parks next to me and is really nice about leaveing enough 'breathing' space for me.
