Raising Junior !

Hey guys,

This evening I came across something delighting: I finished work at 5:00, went to the staff lot and QD' d my car and drove to my mom' s where wife and daughter were waiting for me. So my wife and daughter jump on board.

My 4 year old daughter leans over the driver's seat and gives me kiss and looks around after she is buckled up in her booster. She says with a sour face which I see in the rear view mirror : "Dad, why is the car dirty ?"

I ask her astonished : " but sweetie, I just cleaned it". She snaps back: "I meant inside ! "

So we have this conversation with my li'l pumpkin all the way home. It all of a sudden stikes me that one of the things she loves most is to watch me detail and to grab an MF towel and try to wipe with her tiny hands... (I cannot care less if she SETS FIRE TO and BURNS DOWN the car, let alone scratching, marring etc. She is my most important.)

My wife is sort of mildly annoyed, mumbling hardly audbily "yeah, right all we needed was another detailing freak !! and we got it ! "

So my pumpkin is gonna become the next autopian as soon as she decides to start raving and ranting here instead of the "barbie.com" site...

So what is your way of raising junior when it comes to detailing ?

What an awesome story! Detailing vehicles - ours and a few "customer" cars belonging to friends and family - has been some of the best bonding time I've experienced with my stepson. I've been able to share with him some pretty fundamental stuff, like cause & effect (put that topcoat on too heavy, my boy, and you'll be removing it for days), planning (if you put BnB on the tires before you put wheel sealant on the wheels, you don't have to go back with QD and an MF), and pride in his work. Last weekend I let him apply and remove NB from our pickup with no involvement on my behalf (yes, there was a lesson for me in this too), and he did a great job.

My two year old girl likes to pick up the wheel brushes and start rubbing them all over the car to "help" me. It's pretty cool how they observe EVERYTHING you do, even when you have no idea they are doing it. Then you turn around and there they are imitating something they watched. Today my little girl was putting on my shorts and watch in the bedroom. Needless to say, they didn't fit.

Oh boy ! I bet you can' t resist picking that tiny darling up and hugging her... I bet your eyes well up when you see the baby beauty following you. God bless her and all children with a happy, healthy and prosperous long life with her beloved...

I only miss out due to my job. I travel internationally like 200 days a year, from Japan to South Africa and from Australia to Canada... (Airline job)

I did not see her first steps and she said "mommy" instead of the standard "daddy" as a first word....

You guys out there who are not exactly aware yet, please for God' s sake, TREASURE your days with family... Money don't mean $..t when your heart sinks with the realisation of the missed joy !!!
