Absolutely revolting customer service

To any fishermen out there that ever order wax worms for bait, avoid this place.

I sent two emails to the owner of the business, and never got any response. I even signed up on his website's forum and posted a new thread asking for an explanation as to why I haven't received my order or even an update. The website said the orders ship on the next business day. I didn't get a response to my forum thread either.

I finally got a tracking email yesterday for my order...

Hello Paul Sk-------,

We are happy to inform you that the order with Order ID - 31008 which
you ordered on 26 Apr 2006 was shipped 05 May 2006 via USPS PRIORITY
MAIL (2-3 days), and the estimated arrival date is 09 May 2006. Thank you
once again for your order with us! If you have further enquiries about
your order, please email us anytime at ------------@yahoo.com. Thank
you for ordering from us and have a nice day.

Well I got my package today. The delivery time was certainly less than spectacular, but at least they made up for it in great packaging!

I guess maybe I'm just spoiled by the customer service of Patrick at Excel Detail . Patrick, if you ever start selling fishing supplies, let me know.

I ordered 1000 wax worms, and each cup is supposed to have 250 in it. Since one of them obviously spilled in the box, I wondered how many got out through the holes in the box. I counted one of the full cups, and got 271. Then I counted the near-empty one after dumping all of the escapees back into that cup...237. So it seems that 13 of them, plus any extras that may have been in there, are either in the delivery vehicle or getting free airfare somewhere.

You had to post this at lunchtime? What the heck is a waxworm? What do they turn into? Reminds me of the mealworms that I used to feed to chameleons when I was a kid. Being 6 or something, it never occurred to me that a mealworm was the larva of something until the chameleon died and I had a few mealworms in a plastic bag in a drawer. Imagine my horror some time later when I opened the drawer and there were beetles crawling around in the bag! Fortunately it was sealed.

ordering fish bait on line...what is the world coming to.

I'd bet the USPS would be interested in their packing techniques. Pretty sure there are laws about how 'live' shipments are mailed.

Sorry to see that your order went bad. don't you have anywhere local that sell waxies ? maybe they can get you a bunch if you need them. I will bet some place somebody got a nice little shock when they found one crawling around have to admit they work great for panfish and trout in my area. also work well tipping your jigging spoons when we ice fish. you are right about being spoiled by Excel, when something like this happens you can appreciate Patrick that much more. with some of the on -line retailers you may just be

Waxworms are good for pads as well, add 1 WW to your favored polishing pad in a ziplock. Watch that WW eat the polish/wax/sealant remnants!! No more washing pads!!

lol...actually I just took small handfuls of the sawdust in my hand, and counted out how many were on my hand (about a dozen each time). It didn't take long.

I didn't buy them locally because they cost $2.39/doz at the bait shop down the street. I got 1000 (83.3 dozen) for ~$27 shipped. It would cost me $199.08 for the same amount at the bait shop. There is a local wholesaler in town, but he won't sell to individuals.

Wax worms are bee moth larvae. They work excellent for panfish, and I plan to sit lounge in the kayak for much of the afternoon tomorrow catching bluegills and crappies. Nothin' like it...
