Got to see a Blue Angels practice session...

....FOR FREE!!!!!!!!

The Blue Angles are in town this week to perform in an airshow at Dobbins AFB this weekend. One of my regular clients is located right next to the base and today as I worked on his car The Angels ran through their routine for the show this weekend!!! I apologize for the UFO-esk quality of the photos but my digital camera is not fast enough to keep pace with those jets. I have to tell you...I was utterly in awe. The detail probably took an hour longer than it should have because I kept stopping to watch!!

I know it is hard to tell but the F-18 is going vertical in this shot..

That's awesome as those things are incredible in person. It's amazing the power they have and how loud they can be. They literally shake you out of your boots. Congrats on the free show.

I just saw them this past Saturday at Thunder Over Louisville and they are amazing. MUCH more fun than the usual airshow (which is also very cool). Everyone was in complete awe. They fly formations where they are 18 inches apart!

I'd rather see photos of Robin Meade - she flew practice with them earlier this week. Okay...gotta go...commercial is over...Robin's back on.

Did you get to see their "Fat Albert" crew plane take off? That thing is a beast and needs practically no runway.

Got to see an SR-71 back in the late 80s.

There are some videos on www.ajc.com - one of their reporters got to take a ride in one. He passes out three times during the trip!

Now that's the one "plane" I'd give my left arm to see in flight, though the Blue Angels are near the top of the list (a flight of vintage P-38s or F4Us would be another ); how the HECK did you get to see a Blackbird?!

It made a stop over at McClellan AFB one day, I found out about it and took a walk over to the flight line. Yup, there it was. I was about 200 yards away from it.
