I only saw a "Habu" slowing down once. You'd see this slim, black line in the sky and then he would bank it and you'd get the top view - totally awesome!

J/K....I too, got to see one at a local airshow.....To this day, I still think it is he most awesome plane ever built......
My kids knew what an SR-71 was at a young age, they have one out front of the US Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama.
