Have you dropped your landline ?

Have you dropped your landline and gone totally cellular?
I can't think of any reason to keep my landline phone but I wonder if those who have made the switch have run into any unexpected problems.
Seems like the only calls I receive are from tele-marketers and I'm paying $45 a month for nothing.

I switched to Vonage. I like to keep a landline for emergency purposes incase the cell is dead or not working.

I have Vonage.

I'm on the Economy Plan. It comes to about $16/month.

I use it for the strict reason that I get just about no service where I live (between to large hills).

I live in western PA about 25 miles from Pittsburgh and have excellent cell coverage. I can't remember anywhere I 've found a dead spot around here.
I don't have Tivo, I think that needs a phone line.
I use cable internet, don't have a dish and no alarm system.

I'm a firmly in the landline-free camp. When I was in college and living at home, I got a cell phone and have been using one ever since. When I moved out, I refused to waste money paying for a landline that I wouldn't really use. For me, it has been great. I don't think it's for everyone though. If it helps, I use Roadrunner for my internet access and have a TimeWarner provided DVR (so no need for a phone line). Hope that helps.

We are strictly cell phones with cable for internet with dish for TV. My wife and I have seperate lines so someone is always active if one phone is down or charging. We have been doing this for 4 years now with no real side effects. In my area there are no cheap landlines and paying $45 for a dial tone is stupid. Vontage or the bundled service frome Time Warner would be what we would do if we needed a real home phone.

Cablevision - Home line / Fax
Vonage - Business / Fac
Land - alarm
Cell - all 3
Blackberry - annoyance

This is getting sick. I dont need this much communication.

I have a cell that I use majority of the time including my business. But I also have a landline that is primarily for faxing or a just in case situation.

I'm intrigued by this Vonage thing. Can you keep your same number? Can you be on the net and talking at the same time? Any of you that have it have any complaints?

I am thinking about dropping my business land line. I've already removed the number from my website and only list my cell phone. The last couple of years, I'm getting a lot more business from the internet than the yellow pages...and most of the calls I get are price shoppers anyway. Once I am sure the majority of my customers have my cell phone number, I'll probably drop my landline and go with Vonage for personal calls.
