Found this article did EXCATY what it said to do and found some more infections.
FireFox users want pages to load faster here you go
1.Type "about :config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:
network.http.pipelining; network.http.proxy.pipelining; network.http.pipelining.maxrequests.
Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.
2. Alter the entries as follows:
Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"
Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"
Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.
3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.
Learned this little trip from sn95forums.com by Xuzhu....Enjoy faster loading....

The about:Config tip is great. There are a lot of changes that can be made to speed up your browser in that file. I have changed a ton of them and my speed is great.
Word of caution with FF. Try to refrain from too many skins or plugins. They tend to drag down performance. Some might look good, bt it is'nt worth the drag. Adblock, Tabs, and a Weather plug in are about all I ever run.

Then learned how to speed FF up and Ive used it since.

I use FireFox and have been running AdAware and Spybot for some time.
If you want to kill spyware, load SpywareBlaster. As a result, the other programs have yet to pick up spyware on my machine. This filters it out. http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
Check for updates a couple times a month and then "Enable All Protection."

Tweak it like so http://forum.tweakxp.com/forum/shwme...ge=1&RateVal=5 "bottom of page"

I run Spy Sweeper/Trend for my security, not sure if that helps speed or not but they definitely enhance security.

But I just can't live without all my extensions .
Although, it is easy to tweak firefox into performing the same, if not slightly better than other browsers.

My 6mb connection has been bumped down to 3mb ever since Hurricane Katrina, and viewing web pages is still almost instantaneous.
It's funny. Cox offered a Premier package with a max download speed of 6mbps (advertised) before Katrina, and when downloading from multiple sources, it was common to see 7mbps peaks. That same package is the same price today, yet they have lowered the max download speed to 5mbps (advertised), and *actual* max download speeds hover around 3-4mbps. It's a total crock, but what are you going to do? It's still the fastest available around here.

Besides Spyware Blaster and SpyBot, I purchased a dedicated firewall for security purposes at Sharper Image on closeout for under $50. http://www.alphashield.com/
EDIT: Oh, I also run Safe XP (awesome free product) http://www.theorica.net/safexp.htm
And, I also run a HOSTS file http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm
This really blocks stuff. You can use a HOSTS file to block ads, banners, 3rd party Cookies, 3rd party page counters, web bugs, and even most hijackers. This is accomplished by blocking the Server that supplies them.
Beware, use it and you won't be able to click on advertisement is many places, you'll have to manually copy and paste the link in your browser. I love it though! It really works. Read about, it is interesting.
With all of these things, I've never gotten a piece of spyware despite every program to check for it including the Maleware you recommended (which I deleted). I wanted to see if it got anything else
So, with Spyware Blaster which runs in the background blocking, Safe XP, the HOSTS file and the firewall, I'm pretty well hunkered down and protected!
