MP3 players...

I am looking for a MP3 player for when I work out. I don't need a $100+ iPod but I do want something easy to use and reliable and something that won't sound crappy while I am working out.

Any suggestions?

How much are you looking to spend? For working out I recommed you get a flash based MP3 player. Flash based mp3 players are not cheap however. One of the best sounding DAP is the Iaudio u2/u3 player. Take a look at one of those.

I workout with a 1 GB flash player. Pick up an iriver. Can't beat it for the price! It's tiny and fits in my pocket nice.

You can find these on sale in stores and on ebay for around 100 bucks. Even cheaper for the 512 MB ones.

If you actually feel like getting your rebate $$$ back, avoid Tiger Direct like the plague!

Good player though, look for deals/coupons on staples.com, or check sites like pricegrabber.com for best prices.

iRiver players are nice, I have an iAudio and havent had much trouble with it (apparently the battery springs are "weak" so if you leave a batter in there a while they get a memory and dont contact as well). The U2 is nice too, but I dont like the idea of a permanent internal battery that only the factory can replace.

I bought a Samsung Yepp a couple of years ago, and it is still going strong. It is a 256 MB model, and I don't think I've ever filled it up. I use it when I go running and I can do my usual mileage and be just about done with my playlist by the time I make it back home. I would go with the flash based recommendations as well. Keep it simple and cheap. I just messed with an iPOD for the first time the other day, and I don't see what all the hype is about. Maybe I will one day if I have the money to download at will.

I got an MP3 player for Xmas after doing alot of research. I was torn between the Iriver and Cowon Audio U2. I think the ergonomics on the Cowon Audio were alittle bit better and the reviews are outstanding. For me its perfect. Much easier to use than an Ipod, holds up to 1 gig, and sounds great.

Its so easy to use. You plug it into your USB and the computer sees the MP3 as another drive. All you do is drag and drop the songs you want. The other good thing is that it double as a flash drive to hold other files etc.

Thanks everyone! I ended up going with an iriver because they had a pretty good sale going on a bundle deal. I only got the 128mb player but I only workout for an hour at a time anyway so that is totaly fine with me.
