Not so much the noise thing, but there will always be a homeowner that can't get with the program. I have a family across the street that communicates with each other only via screaming and profanity in the front yard. We call the police all the time, so do the neighbors. I am quite sure he is dealing drugs curbside also, but still thinking of a way to catch this on camera or something. Anyway, we freely call the police on these people and you should do whatever is in your power as well. Three notices gets them evicted? Well, they got one already...keep em coming. Some people, as it sounds like this family has done, act courteous when they see you around but could actually care less if they keep you up all night or not. Good riddance.

A new family moved in below me about 6 weeks ago. The very first night, they had their stereo on loud enough I could feel and hear it through the floor. At 2 am, I was banging on their door. No answer, their windows were dark-how they could sleep with their music that loud, I don't know. I called the office in the morning and told them about it. The noise continued and reached its peak a few days later-bad timing too, I had the stomach flu and felt like crap. I ended up having to sleep on my couch to escape the worst of the noise. Again, I knocked on their door and no one answered.
I finally go hold of our property manager and she said she was unaware of the problem and promised to address it. I told her that I'd give her the opportunity to handle it but the next time I was kept up at night, I was calling the cops. Anyway, to make a long and beautiful story short and ugly, no more problems since she personally talked to them.

Around here, a decent duplex will go for about the same rent as a nice apartment. Plus you get a yard and a garage (if you're lucky). And only one other person/family to deal with. I got lucky and rented a duplex with a retired couple on the other side several years back.

The next time you see him, you gotta watch out about getting stabbed or shot. I guess Canada isn't that bad yet, but still gotta watch out.

I'll second the comments about the duplex and that neigbors can suck even if you have your own single-family house.

Common courtesy dictates that when you live in an apartment, you treat your neighbors with respect, you don't make so much noise that it becomes a nuisance to your neighbors, you don't engage in behavior which could pose a threat to your neighbors, etc.
I live in an apartment, and my neighbors rarely even know I'm home (and they've told me as much). I've also had extremely loud and obnoxious neighbors and have reported them to management with no qualms whatsoever. I'm paying to live in a home, not a dormitory, and I expect my neighbors to treat me with the same respect I give them.
In fact, my neighbors are about due for another report to management (they basically are screaming, fighting, both at each other and at their 3 year old daughter on a daily basis for hours at a time, I can hear them from any room in my apartment).
I say report it to management again. Nothing is owed to these neighbors, they've made his life miserable and that's not what he's paying rent for.

Yea you are right, I had a GF once and she lived in a apart and she kelp telling at me to be quiet while I’m so used to living in a house, one night I put out my Tarzan yell and she threw something at me. She lived on the bottom apartment and the people upstairs would wear there boots /w hard stepping at night and she could not sleep but she did not say nothing for months. I told her maybe they don’t know & you should tell them, she did and no more noise. Why can’t they build apartments quiet enough so people can live in, apartments is like living in a monastery? But you are right apartment living you have to respect others and it takes time to adjust living there like people like me if I would move in.
Things that walls say
I heard you calling me a name --- though the wall.
The couple next door is having sex again and it’s the third time this week!
Morse code system through apartment complex walls sounds like Indian war party
Looking pep hole though bathroom something teenaged boys can do
Don’t like neighbor drill hole and fart through it

I think the illegal actvities rightfully call for police involvement. Seems like you just can't catch a break, eh?
Hope I don't wind up seeing you on Cops soon!
