I have fished freshwater my whole life, ultralite and flyrod preferred. We recently moved to the TX coast so I've got to learn how to fish all over again!

That bass was a MAJOR football. I think 6 lbs was my largest but it was on a mini spinning reel with 4 lb mono......I can still hear the drag screeching!

Dang! That makes my 10lb 1oz. largemouth (caught it on Lake Fork in Texas when I was 12) look like a minnow!

Walleye and crappie are the BEST for eating... hands down. They're so white and flaky...mmmm...

Geez, the biggest largemouth around here are only 6-7 lbs.

My favorite type of fishing is just lounging around in the kayak catching bluegills and crappies on my ultralight. Nothing like it.

I'll be going out walleye fishing this Sunday on my neighbor's boat. Apparently they're starting to catch a lot of legal-size 'eyes by the dam just a few miles from my apartment, so it should be a good time.

Re: Anybody into fishing? v.worldrecord?

Actually just leaving to go Walleye fishing in about an hour. We are blessed with some of the best in the world. Two weeks ago i caught a 6 and a 9 lb Walleye.
Here is one that i caught a couple years ago. It was 14lbs.

It was caught right at sundown with a perch colored Rapala. The thing was i caught another fish about 5 min. earlier and my buddy was scared as it didn't fit in the net, so it flopped out and was gone. Holy you dumb a** i said!

So i don't know if this is the same fish but this one wasn't getting away. It took about 10 min. to land, in about 8 feet of water. By the time i got my hook out, fish out of the net, weighed and measured and the picture taken, it was time to put back in water and it took about 5 min. to revive her.

That board at the back of the boat is 36" long.

This is a 9lb that i caught the day after, thats my buddy holding it.

Re: Anybody into fishing? v.worldrecord?

Wow, that's a huge fish. I'm not sure if they grow them that big up here, the record between me and my buddies is around 5lbs.

I don't think my setup would take that either . My biggest bass setup is 10lb line on a 8-12lb St. Croix rod and a 6-10lb Shimano.
