I have been accepted to attend the 2006 Speedway (Indiana) Reserve Police Academy. I started Tuesday Feb. 28th (Two Days after my Birthday F.Y.I.) and will continue every week on Tuesdays, Thursday and Saturdays till May 5th, just in time for the Indy 500.
Then I will begin my Field Training Officer phase. Meaning I will be paired up with an experience Officer to "learn the ropes". I believe I will be in my FTO phase for about6 to 12 weeks. Then I will be out on my own.
Clarification:
A Reserve Police Officer are non-paid Officers for a given Department. They have full arrest power same as a paid Officer. Only Difference is not being paid and don’t have a Take Home Police Car.
You might ask yourself "Self, why the hell would anyone want to do something and not get paid???" This is a very good step to become a Sworn Officer (Paid with a Take Home Car.)
Just wanted to warn anyone that might be going to the Indy 500, Brickyard 400, or the Formula One.
