Having read your previous response, I guess Tasty did suddenly put things in perspective for you. A complete 180!

In a way it is rude and it is not. I guess some of you did not look at ti this way, but there are plenty of customers that will come in, drop the money with a single word and walk out... It as if they expect you to know oh he drives the 92 Buick...

I worked at a gas station back during college and had to deal with people who did that, it was ok if you did not know your pump #, as long as you could name and show your car.

But there were often people who would come in leave the money and walk out... There were also the ones who would hand it and not say a single word... I would be like this...

Me: Hey how are you doing sir?
Sir: *ignores me, takes out $10 and puts it down*
Me: What can I get you sir?
Sir: *at this point some of them would be annoyed that I did not know what they want, **** its a gas station we carry things from cigarettes to food and what not* Gas

I did however then tend to have a field day with people like this...

It would go like this.

Me: Hey how are you doing sir?
Sir: *Takes out $$$ and puts it down*
Me: What can I get you sir?
Sir : *walking away*
Me: Oh thanks for the $10, I can now go grab some lunch!

Otherwise I would just put thier $$$ on the side and wait till they wave me 10 times thier pump did not work and I would then make them come inside and then ring them up for the amount they left.

Oh yea another issue was often these "walkouters"(as I liked to call them), would say hey you only gave me $10 of gas, I gave you $20 etc etc... Claiming to have given more... I always kept thier $ to the side when they did that, so I could show what they had left... Some did argue and swear, but lifting the phone always made them leave

I worked in a full service gas station when I was young Man that is the truth! And it happens mostly when you get busy. I hate backstabbing thieving people! I rather kick there a** all the way out the driveway and one day I really did it and I went to jail.

It still frustrates the heck out of me when people don't consider what's going on around them and who they may be holding up. A little common courtesy goes a long way. But Tasty had a point. When you have big problems...what's another two minutes or a swirl in you paint? Sometimes we all major on the minors!

And I'm not saying I'm immune or anything. It's just that sometimes we ALL get caught up in this stuff and then life slaps us across the face with a big wake up call 2x4. It's a shame that our society doesn't value slowing down and being thankful for the small pleasures we all get each day instead of the small annoyances.
