I was getting some spam in my Outlook Express box, about 5-8 per day over the past 3 months. I usually only give out this address to close friends but one person likes to send FWD's with LOTS of email addresses in them and probably one of the spambots picked up my address and off we went. 3 months go by and no change, I figure the spambots have got me recognized so I need to do something.
Went looking for a good free solution, there's a few good ones around, some simple and some complicated. I tried a program recommended called K9. Its free, tiny (117k) and it just works simply and beautifully. DL the program and the excellent CHM help file that guides you step-by-step in setting it up. It auto-configures to your OE mail. It takes a bit of learning, but not much at all, and after using it a few times its like 2nd nature. And it works like a CHAMP!
Another tip I and I feel like a dummy for not doing this earlier is to
Turn the Preview Pane Off In Your Email Program. This prevents you from accidentally opening emails by mistake and expsosing you to whatever's in them.
