Not to me

I could understand if you were on a road somewhere then it'd be easier to identify.

Here it just looks like you drained the oil onto the driveway.

That's kind of what happened. Two gallons of fresh Castrol Syntec, to be exact. Didn't notice the old oil filter's gasket was still on the engine. Two gaskets don't make a very good seal at all, and oil sprayed everywhere. I can't believe I turned what should be a 10 minute oil change into this. I noticed that threading the oil filter on seemed to feel kind of odd, but thought nothing of it. Any suggestions to get an oil stain this big off the driveway?

Don't feel too bad, the same two gasket thing happened to me.
After you soak up all the spilled oil that you can try puting some portland cement on the oil stain. Put down alot and work it in with a broom.

That Castrol looks dark to be fresh! Maybe it is the lighting in the picture.

I had the 2 gasket thing happen to me on my very first car. My stepdad was showing me how to change my oil and when we were finished he said crank it up. He stayed close to watch it and oil started squirting all over... TURN IT OFF he exclaimed. I learned my lesson the first time and I've not made the mistake because I make it a habit to check everytime.

Good luck with the clean up man.

The Rolls my customer has sat in his warehouse for 3 weeks...dropped about 2 quarts of oil while sitting there. Dealer says they all do that if you let them sit...

Don't let Bill D see that! About a hunnert years ago I briefly worked at a dealer, and someone noticed that there was a trail of oil coming from one of the used car bays, going out of the lot into the street. And we figured out that Gary (who had a bit of a drinking problem) had been working on a car there and had just taken it for a test drive...just about the time Gary came walking back into the lot. After we pushed the car back into the bay, Gary claimed that the filter he had just put on had burst...but I don't think any of us saw it...

Wholly crap and to think I use 4.5 quarts per change!

You wouldn't happen to be using Fram oil filters would you? This same very thing happened to my father less than a month ago. He had a bottle of Restore in there as well as the oil that graced the garage floor.

No, Mann filters. OEM. I wasn't paying attention. Funny how the easiest jobs turn into five hour long ordeals of scrubbing the driveway because oil changes are just so routine and boring.
