My interesting afternoon (Pics...56k take a walk)
(Long, but exciting)
Well this afternoon proved to be a little more exciting then expected. I have Fridays off from school, and since I didn’t get called into sub today, I had the day to myself. I was contemplating detailing my car, but its pretty clean, so I figured leave it alone. Anyway I’ve been trying to get in better shape physically after my snowboarding trip this past break. I’ve never felt so winded and sore in my life afterwards. So I decided I’ll start taking walks a couple times a week, and try to snap some nice pictures during the process.
After a couple of blocks of walking I stop by a Burger King to use the bathroom. I was contemplating walking on the main street to get some building shots, or going through the park trails that runs parallel to the street. Once coming out of Burger King I heard a ton of sirens and the road up ahead was blocked off. I then see black smoke, and I’m like “oh boy photo opt”. Turns out this Ford Escape caught on fire somehow, luckily nobody was hurt. This bigger gentleman approaches me and asks if my camera is digital. I’m like yes, he goes that’s my truck, would you mind e-mailing them to me. I was like no problem; it’s the least I can do. I wanted to ask what happened but he was in shock, so I let it go. After that I was pretty pumped up to take some more pictures, and got a couple nice shots in the park on my way home that I plan on submitting for competition in two weeks. I didn’t do much post processing to them just playing with levels and colors. Well Enjoy!
My excitement for the week…
Now for some in the park…

Interesting that you felt a need to snap a pic of a storm sewer pipe! lol
Did that guy ask you about cleaning up his Escape after the fire was out?

I live in Belleville, but my walk took me through Nutley. How did you know it was Nutley? Was it the NFD that gave it away? I'm not sure what the park is called. It's kinda behind the Park Diner and Mandees, above Centre St.
Paul, I don't know why I took a picture of the sewer pipe, maybe it was the water trickling down with the bridge background? Either way I like the way it came. The guy who owned the Escape was in shock, as most of us would be. He was barely able to write his e-mail address for me he was shaking so much.

As long as you like the way it turned out, that's all that matters. Many times you can't appreciate a certain item in a picture until you see it on film (or computer screen).

At least no one was hurt. I wonder what started it? They had a Ford Explorer that burned up in the parking garage last year for some unknown reason but it seemed to have started in the same spot as that Escape.
Nice photo skills! Your favorite is mine as well... something about the picture makes me go hmmm weird. It's definitely an optical illusion!

I saw essex county in your profile and that dance studio gave it away in the background of your pic. I didn't know there was a park / trail over there, sounds cool though. I used to work on Broadstreet in the corporate park there over on the clifton end. What major highways do you take to and from work? Maybe I saw ya on the road at some point.

I know exactly where your talking about on Broad St. I go to Montclair State University and its easier for me just take the backroads in the morning. Usually around 7:45 am I go from W. Passaic Ave and turn right onto Broad St., by the big bank and Friendly's. I then pass by ShopRite and the big buildings, and turn off Broad St. on Alexander Rd. Coming home I usually take 46 to 3, which seems to be the quickest.
When I was learning how to drive manual, and showing my brother had to drive I've always gone in those big parking lots late at night or during the weekend to pratice.

JohnnyDaJackal- Wow, you sure picked the right afternoon to go walking with your camera! As the man said, the most important rule of photography is "be there"
Those are some good pics in the park! How's it going with the photography club?

Thanks Accumulator.
Photo club has been pretty good. Lately, I've been exploring with different filters in PS to give my pictures an "artistic painting look", some really cool stuff. I plan on entering two of my "water painting" pictures in the "creative" competition a week from Tuesday.
For some reason I always end up involved in the most expensive hobbies. Detailing as been put on the back burner, and I now want to upgrade to a dSLR. The Nikon D50 is looking pretty good, but I think i'm going to hold of till Spring for it when the newer models come out, and hopefully these will go down in price.
I just don't have $750-800 lying around to spend on another camera.
