Scott, ask her dad how he would feel about it. Is she seeing anyone at the moment? If you do call, make sure she knows where you got the # from. That way she won't think you're some kind of stalker.

Scott sometimes you take a gamble in life, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't, at the end of the day you learn a lesson either way.

I wish you all the best, I would probably ask her dad first and take it from there, I think the idea of taking her about town is a good idea.

Me too. I smoked from the age of 16 to about 29. In college ('92 - '96), it was only a $1.49 a pack. In college I was up to a pack and a half a day of Marlboro Reds. Regarding Scott's question - I see absolutely nothing wrong with asking the young woman out. Everyone in the equation are rational, mature adults. If Scott is having nice converations with her, there is nothing wrong with politely asking if she would like to have lunch or dinner or something as harmless as that. Its not like her father will refuse her grown daughter from spending an afternoon with the man who cares for his cars. Her old man would be happy because he knows Scott. Furthermore, I don't expect things to go "bad." Early on, folks know if there is a connection. If not, you kindly shake hands and wish each other well and Scott continues to care for the cars and gives a smile and a wave each time he sees the daughter.

If she were a psycho and the dad a looney tune, then I'd advise against it. But, if she *is* hot.....

JK, although a level of "hotness" might help offset the smoking part..

Her level of hotness is very high, believe me. I wouldn't even consider a smoker remotely attractive if she is under an 8.5 or so and has a tramp stamp or two.

Her Dad called the other day, and we've been playing phone tag since. She has been looking for a job, plus I also found out she nearly had a nervous breakdown at the end of her last relationship. Kind of makes me a bit leary....

I wouldn't say that without knowing what the guy put her through. OTOH, smoking is on the personal side with me. Both my parents smoked and my mother died from lung cancer. As a result, I'd NEVER even date someone that smokes even occasionally.

Maybe the smoking is just a temporary fix for her so called nervous breakdown. Maybe she will respond real well to a stable, hardworking mature fella like yourself. Sometimes all it takes is one date to figure it out. Now weve been talking about this young woman like its a no brainer that she'd go for you. Not to be a jerk, but would she be ok with you having 2 kids etc.??

My boys are 17 and 19-my younger boy lives at his Mom's in Kentucky and my older boy is in college in Illinois, probably a non-issue. However, if she is someone who wants kids of her own, that is a huge issue. I'm not starting over again. I don't want to raise kids for 40 years.

I tell ya, it is hard to find a good woman who is also past the 'bad boy' stage.
