a few months back, my co-workers friend came out of the house one morning to find his civic hatchback on cinder blocks due to someone stealing his oem stock alloys.

Here in Omaha, several sets of STi wheels have disappeared from dealerships; local Subie club members are keeping an eye out for them. We're a pretty tight community . . . I hope the crooks do something stupid like approach one of our LEO members.

"Pssst. Wanna buy some wheels cheap?" Jailarity ensues. (fingers crossed)

Thieves suck.

at least they had the decency to put it on some rocks. I know stealing the wheels is really kinda low, but i've seen pics where they just let the car sit on the frame.

Seriously though, why the hell do people f*ck with other people's cars.

It's such a shame that people can't have nice things without worrying about them all the time. I do think he should have had wheel locks though. My wheels and tires were only $730 shipped, but I got a set of wheel locks too just for peace of mind.

Man that sucks, but like Neo said, at least it was left on rocks. He is getting ripped off on new wheels and tires! I'd get some aftermarket ones for less or full on racing wheels for the same price. Wheel locks wont really help that much, I have a friend that works at a tire shop and he said you can buy a whole wheel lock key kit for like $40 and then you can take off any wheels you want. Its a deterent though, got them on mine.

the only reason they left it on rocks was so they could get the jack out! They were not doing him any favors.

And how exactly would that work?

Had a friend that the aftermarket wheels stolen off of his GTI. They too were "kind" enough to leave the car on some landscaping stones. At least he still had the factory wheels in his shed. It really is almost not worth it to have nice stuff anymore.

Alarm and wheel locks are good to deter possible theft from beginners but anyone that has a even a little expierence can bypass alarms and take off wheel locks in a matter of minutes or less. Its sad!
