The picture was taken at the dealer, obviously someone there noticed it. If you don't think that kind of stuff happens on production lines, then you clearly don't remember the work platform that got left in the space shuttle, even though the paperwork showed the workers removed it, and the inspectors stamped off on it.

Unless, you viewed this truck in person I would bet this is another photocrop job.
Note there are 5 sections. GM does not make a 5 section taillight that looks like the one on the right.

What are you talking about? There's 4 sections on the right taillight and that was the standard taillight up until the newer models came out.

does gm allow/encourage workers to stop the line like the japanese auto makers do?
that's pretty interesting, but I missed it the first time time too - if I were in QC and looking at hundreds of the same truck every day, I might have missed it too. unless the brake lights are on, I don't think I would have noticed.

When I stated 5 sections I was indicating the the top red section has 2 circular forms. Does GM make this type of tail? Never looked very closely at the new GM trucks.

That may just be the way the light is hitting it, as I think that upper portion is a single circular reflector.

not a big deal as far as I'm concerned...just posted it because my buddy sent it to me this morning.

I'm sure its one of those things that happens way more than anyone knows/expects, its just not often that someone has a cameraphone handy and cares to take a picture.

It was posted, half in a joking manner, because of all the bankrupt talk.

Because it shouldn't happen AT ALL. There's too much product redundancy going on as has been mentioned already. They need to shed some of the divisions to keep alive.
