For all you military buffs out there...
A good friend of mine works for Lockheed Martin here in Marietta....home to the C-5 Galaxy and F/A-22 Raptor (among many others). The military presence is always felt (and damn appreciated) with daily sightings of F-18's, F-16's, C-130's, C-5's, Blackhawk's, Cobra's and now F/A-22's. He sent me this Lockheed promo footage (runs about 3 minutes) of the F/A-22 and said this is "unclassified" stuff...I could only dream of the true capabilities of this plane!!!

Regardless of your politics I hope you can all realize that freedom is not, nor ever has been, free.

Thanks for the video of one sick bird, that thing can not be described. have to admit that you quote about freedom is so true. no matter what side of the fence you are on we must not foget all that have sacrificed for us. on a side note my uncle was in the Navy in Norkfolk and I got to see the aircraft carriers and subs along with the planes. man you can not appreciate these machines until you see them in person.

Cool video.
From what I've read and seen, that plane guarantees US air supremecy for the next 50 years compared to what any other country can and will produce. There is no other aircraft that comes remotely close to that beast.
The need for this plane was essential as a handful of foreign planes are just a notch below the current F-15 if not equal and soon to be superior. Plus, many foreign powers possess seriously sophisticated SAM's that threaten the F-15. The new Raptor was designed for survivability from those suckers. It was crucial that we build this.
Pay attention to whom France and Russia sell their Rafale's and Su-35's to, not to mention Russia's elite SAM systems.
The Raptor is truly genius. Reading about it's capabilities is mind boggling.
Ah, nothing like the arms race

 Awesome stuff!
When I am on the west side of Fort Worth (there is a base on that side of town), I regularly see military aircraft flying.

Ya... can't all the planes out there make 90 degree turns doing several hundred miles per hour?! *sarcasm* That thrust vectoring is crazy and to boot the plane is nearly invisible on radar.
I would eventually like to get in on a project like that. But hey, that's several years down the road after I'm out of college and have some job experience under my belt

How could you not include C-130s in the list! Marietta is home to those too... But that's sort of personal, my dad is the team lead for government contracts for the 130. You should get your friend to bring you out to one of the family days, you can get up close and personal with most of the planes.
