| You guys are welcome. I don't like getting poked for a blood draw or IV very much either and I figure that every time I have to, it is like payback for all the people I have stuck over the years! As blkZ28conv noted in his post, giving blood does not lower your cholesterol either. Cholesterol levels come from dietary intake, metabolism (exercise) and various disease states such as diabetes and hereditary hyperlipidemias. The treatments are diet, exercise and meds, if necessary. For those who are diabetic, control of blood sugar is critical. As for giving blood, any Autopia members who can donate and do so......thank you, thank you, thank you! As my practice is in cardiac surgery, we would be unable to save many of the lives that we do without those who take the time and effort to roll up their sleeves and give their blood to their fellow human beings....people who will foever remain strangers to those who give and yet they give anyway. It is one of the most decent and productive things to do for your fellow man that I can think of. |
