Question Door protectors - stop damage to other cars... help?

I was hoping for a little advice to find some attractive door-end-caps that will protect the car next to me from damage from my opening car door. My kids do not seem to be able to open the door on my car slowly and we have had repeated incidents. The last resulted in $500 damage to a car next to us!

I have seen crappy devices at mass merchants, but I do not want to put some non-fitted huge black thing on my new Navigator. The color is Cashmere and anything that is close to that would be cool with me...

Help! Before another incident kills my Christmas budget....

JD

Door edge protectors were the first thing I purchase for my truck a few years ago. I was lucky because i have a black truck. Most of the truck sites I frequented had plastic that slid right onto the edge of my door with no problem at all. I cannot remember which site that I used. all I did was do a search for truck accessories and found everything that I wanted and more.

Good Luck!

Why not teach your kids some respect?

Or, park a little farther away, and leave adequate room to open the doors?

Yeah I'd have to agree with Boxer. The kids need to learn. I would let them know that half of their allowance is going toward that damage! They'll soon learn to open the door slowly.

But the other idea is good too. Just try to park somewhere that the kids either can't hit a car next to you, or don't have the opportunity to. If they complain about parking far away, tell them that you wouldn't have to park there if they were more careful of other peoples' property around them.

dealers usually have thinner rubber caps for the door ends. they're generally black - matching with the trim on most cars, but you could probably paint them to match.

kids are hard to teach, but maybe let them hop out before you pull into a space.
btw, I appreciate your taking responsibility for the damaged caused - many people here have had people dent their cars without so much as a sorry, much less paying for the damage.
