Question "DETAILING" When was the term first used?

Detailing, OK we all do it but when was the word first used to discribe the process of detailing cars.
I remember in 1970 when I would spend 20 hours cleaning a BRG MGB and I don't recall saying that I had just detailed the car. In fact I don't think anyone could understand how I could put so much time into what they considered " washin n waxin".

Later I remember Detail Shops opening up, but it seemed that detailing then meant a wash and wax and AA on the tires.

So when did the term "Detailing" start?
