About banning people from the forum.
I just read the system message about banning people from autopia.org because they are using multiple accounts. One of the reasons why they do so really intrigued me. Here's the quote from the system post:
(Regarding why people make multiple accounts)
To start conversations/ask questions using an alias name that they can answer using their primary account;
Now my question is... why the heck would you do this? I can understand the other reasons, you know, like getting around a ban on an account, or to start a flame war, but this one is really weird.

I think this goes along the lines of trying to gain interest in a product. The person would first give us a "rave review" and a link. Then using a different account, will respond saying that he/she had the same success. This works the other way, they may attack a company or product using various accounts. For one, it's just plain petty and two, I mean seriously, how lame do you have to be to use multiple accounts to have a conversation with yourself, haha.

I think you answered your own question with this one. The reason people do it is to get around banning or to cause trouble.
I think Travisdecpn hit it right on the head.

I can have conversations with myself in my head. I don't even have to setup accounts at Autopia. Wes

Mr Vibrating: No you didn't, you came here for an argument.

I like the thread with the detailer from Texas who then opened up another account to tell everyone how good he was and how he talked with him on the phone!
Remember that one? Man did he get caught and It makes for a great read. The thread just gets funnier and funnier.
EDIT: Here's the thread: http://autopia.org/forum/showthread....hlight=Antonio
Note the initial post by "SADetail" and how he then defends his spam. Then notice the posts by the newbie "SunCityDetail" in the same thread. Well, it's the same guy and he got nabbed.
There's an example of how to get banned because of multiple accounts.

My guess is these guys do it to avoid merchants artificially creating support for their products. You'd love it though, people do this on forums just to make themselves look cool and look "right".
