That should be a nice afternoon. While you're there you might pick up some of the little BHBs (pn 15520 IIRC) if they have them for wasing nooks and crannies. I'd pick up some gallons of car wash too, since there won't be any shipping charges.

Wonder if the Griot's shipping charges will come down any with their distribution center being closer to me....

I just hope that they will get such a good turnout that they will decide to open a "pickup counter" so you can order and pick up from their distribution center. I like a lot of their products, but they are expensive (read: overpriced) to begin with, and then when you add shipping I usually just find other alternatives. I'd buy more if I could just pick them up here!

It seems stupid to have them UPS something to me when I can get from my parking space at work to their front door in less than 1 minute!

Cool! Thanks for the link. I just ordered some of the rubber stair treads from there and when they arrived the next day, I couldn't beleive they had shipped out of Plainfield. Got a newcatalog yesterday, but no invite?

OMG! I think I need to start detailing my car to get it ready to go over there!

I was thinking the same thing, LOL! Sort of like cleaning your house before the housekeeper gets there (not that I would know anything about having a housekeeper)!

If you need directions: from New Castle, go I-70 West, past the Indpls airport. Take the exit for SR 267 Plainfield (just after Six Points road), I believe it is exit 59 ***NOTE: I may be wrong on the exit # - I think it is actually Exit 66 **. Go to the 2nd light, which is Stanley Rd. (it's just after Stoops Buick - there is a 5/3 bank on the corner). Turn R, then turn R again behind the 5/3 bank. This is Airwest blvd. and it is on the R side, white building with red trim. I'll go take a picture of it today and post it.

Thanks Turbo Cat! I'm definitely going. Anyone else from Indy want to meet over there? Jimmy?

I don't buy a lot from Groit's, but it would be interesting to see.

I'm not Griot's bashing, because I have bought stuff from there, but that P/N is a set of three brushes (look like one paint brush, one small paint brush, and one for putting barbecue sauce on link ). The set is 30 bucks and it's made in China

Accumulator, I know you recommend these to your friends, but I find it hard to believe when you bought them, they were made in China, but I bet they are still the same price. At least Griot has the cojones to actually tell you where the stuff comes from. It's just if we are going to lose all our mfg. capability in this country, we should at least shouldn't be paying the same price, especially when you know the vendor is getting it for much less (than when it was made here).

Anyway, sorry for the OT comments; if that warehouse was in my neck of the woods, I would definitely go.

Griot's chemicals are good in my opinion. I just don't like the whole paying triple for something because Griot but their name on it. However, if they can get those prices for that stuff, more power to them!

I was going to post a picture of the distribution center, but it says my file is too big!

If you want to see it, look in the Galleries under my name.

Turbocat- That looks like quite an operation. Was it an interesting visit?

Setec Astronomy- Heh heh, I remember when "made in Japan" was the kiss of death for any product. I'm...well, just not gonna get into the topic of outsourcing. I've done enough ranting of my own for one lifetime about doing business with countries that offend *my* values (e.g., Thailand and the sexual exploitation of children). As long as people are making informed decisions I leave that sort of thing up to them and their consciences. If anyone knows where to get identical BHBs from a domestic manufacturer I'm all ears, but until then I'm just gonna order from Griot's.

The brushes might cost a bit, but you've probably noticed that I'm not too price-sensitive when it comes to detailing stuff I preferred the older version with plastic handles, but the ones they sell now with the wood handles hold up about the same. The bristles fall out before the handles go bad anyhow.

I use that round one (the BBQ sauce one ) for around lugnuts and valve stem recesses. Couldn't get by without it. But like KGB said, if you can find it cheaper without the Griot's name, why pay more. Well, besides the convenience of one-stop shopping.

Accumulator...I hope you didn't take me the wrong way...there is a lot of great stuff that comes from China (sheesh, I have tons of it...you can't hardly get anything that's made anywhere else!). I wasn't suggesting you find a "domestic" source or stop recommending them. I just have a suspicion that they didn't lower the price when they resourced them...and we all know that they resourced them to get a lower price. We recently discovered that some of the Microfibertech towels are coming from China rather than Korea, but they are at a lower price point. As I kinda said before, my gripe is with the erosion of the US mfg. base, and if that's going to happen, at least we ought to be paying less for the product (since the guy who had the good mfg. job making the product is now working at WalMart).

Yeah, for the overwhelming majority of things, including shipping, I think Griot's can do much better in that area especially now given this resourcing.
